| Abstract(in English) | The Dundee Corpus (Kennedy and Pynte, 2005, `Parafoveal-on-foveal effects in normal reading', Vision Research, vol. 45, pages 153--168) contains eye-tracking data collected while native speakers of English and French read newspaper editorial articles. This is a progress report on a project to build a comparable corpus for Japanese. Data were collected while 24 native speakers of Japanese read excerpts from the Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese (Maekawa et. al., 2014, `Balanced Corpus of Contemporary Written Japanese', Language Resources and Evaluation, vol. 48, pages 345-371). Data were collected using two types of segmentation (with or without space between bunsetsu boundaries) and two types of methodologies (eyetracking and self-paced reading presentation). Anonymized readers' background information including vocabulary-size estimation (Amano and Kondo, 1998, `Estimation of mental lexicon size with word familiarity database', `Proceedings of International Conference on Spoken Language Processing', vol. 5, pages 2119--2122) and reading span (Osaka, 2002, 『ワーキングメモリー脳のメモ帳』, 新曜社) will also be made available. |
