APSK Performance Verification for Equalization Using Satellite Characteristics

Abstract(in English) A technical standard for a satellite transmission system (ARIB STD-B44 ver. 2.0) has been drawn up for 4K/8K UHDTV services. The symbol rate of 33.7561 Mbaud and the roll-off factor of 0.03 were adopted in this standard to broadcast 8K service per transponder. 16APSK and 32APSK as new modulation schemes were also adopted in this standard. Although the transmission capacities for the 16APSK and 32APSK could be more increased than those for the current TC-8PSK, they are more vulnerable to non-linear distortion of the satellite transponder. Aiming to compensate for this distortion, we proposed an equalization system using receiver-built-in the inverse characteristics of the satellite transponder. In this study, we verify the received performance of the proposed equalization system by computer simulations.
