Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Asteroid Explorer Hayabusa-2, launched in December 2014, is equipped with a laser altimeter LIDAR. The main purpose of the LIDAR is detection of the altitude of the spacecraft in proximity to the asteroid. Moreover, it has a function for optical link between a satellite laser ranging (SLR) station on the ground. Before and after the Earth gravity assist operation on 3 December 2015, optical link experiments were performed between Hayabusa-2 and SLR stations. Hayabusa-2 successfully detected pulses from Mt. Stromlo stations and thus 1-way optical link was established. Link establishment between a moving spacecraft and a station requires precise attitude control of the spacecraft and visibility prediction of the spacecraft from the station. In this paper, we introduce attitude control and visibility prediction used for optical link experiments. |
