Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is important to measure a dynamic change of the whole human motor system including the cerebral cortex to understand motor learning. There are, however, few studies with electroencephalogram (EEG) recorded in the sitting posture. Therefore, we analyzed EEG and electromyogram (EMG) patterns changed by skill acquisition during sitting. The scalp EEG were recorded with 5 electrode on left hemisphere and an electrode near supplementary motor area. The surface EMG were placed over the left and right flexor digitorum superficialis and extensor digitorum communis muscles. Three male healthy volunteer students performed two balls rotating tasks with one hand. In analysis, EEG power spectrum and EMG root mean square, it is clearly showed that the rotational frequency increased and muscle potentials decreased through repeating the motor tasks. Our results suggest that the skill acquisition through repeating motor tasks improves the movement performance keeping the same activity level in the muscles and motor cortex.
