Improvement of Detection Sensitivity for BPSK Signals

Abstract(in English) As IoT (Internet of Things) systems become widespread, data communication may often be disturbed because of radio frequency interference among the IoT radio systems. To mitigate the interference-related problems, a tool that precisely analyzes the radio frequency environments will be helpful. We developed a prototype tool which can determine which protocol a received packet belongs to by discriminating its preamble signal attached at the start of it. In this study, we propose a detection algorithm for BPSK signals. In the algorithm, bit-wise product with the expected signal in the correlation calculation process is conducted before correction of frequency deviation. The cross-correlation value can be reduced when a signal that is different from the expected one is received. We show detection sensitivity will be improved by around 3dB by theoretical analysis and experimental results, compared with the previous work of the multiplication method.
