Compact Spiral Patch EBG Structure with a Shunt Capacitor for Broadband SSN Suppression

Abstract(in English) A broadband and compact spiral patch electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure with a shunt capacitor is proposed for simultaneously switching noise (SSN) suppression. With a lumped capacitor on optimized locations of spiral patch, the proposed EBG structure could offer a very wider bandgap from WLAN band to above 10 GHz. A 1-D equivalent circuit model is adopted and validated by full-wave simulation. Test board is also fabricated with 0402 capacitor and measured for verifying simulation results. Two proposed EBG structures, single broadband design and bandgap aggregation design, offer fractional bandwidths of 89.7% and 127.3%, respectively.
