Abstract(in English) | In wavelength-division multiplexed passive optical network (WDM-PON) systems, optical network units (ONUs) in the user side are expected to operate regardless of the wavelength in use. The authors have proposed a configuration of the ONUs for WDM-PON with downstream re-modulation using gain saturation of a semiconductor optical amplifier assisted by a Fabry-Perot ethalon, where the SOA and the ethalon respectively suppress low and high frequency components of modulation signals. In this paper, the authors report experimental results on an automatic tuning of the ethalon with respect to the wavelength of the downstream signal, where the control program was implemented on LabVIEW . |
