| Abstract(in English) | In server-hosting service with cloud computing, servers are hired and released depending on the number of jobs in the system. Considering cost incurred by hiring new servers each time, called setup cost, keeping idle servers for a while may save the total cost compared with releasing servers when they become idle. In this paper, we present a queuing model to examine the effect of the number of servers handled simultaneously, called block size, on the system performance to consider the optimal server hiring policy. By numerical experiments, it is found that the total cost gets less sensitive to the increase of the block size. |
