Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Electroencephalography (EEG) is often used for Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) rehabilitation, which aims to restoring motor function after stroke because it requires quick preparation, low movement constraints, and high temporal resolutions. However, spatial resolution of EEG is low, and there are signal contaminations in a sensor from brain activities in different regions. Cortical current source estimation is one of the major approaches to solve this problem. However, although its spatial accuracy has been verified, reliability that the estimation reflects physio-logical neural activity is still unclear. Therefore, in order to evaluate whether the estimated current source reliability captures spontaneous brain activity, we measured EEG and fMRI simultaneously, and analyzed a correlation between fMRI BOLD signals and the estimated current source. The result indicates that the current source estimation reflects physiological dynamics with higher sensitivity than conventional EEG, in terms of both temporal factor and spatial factor.
