Study on electrode arrangements for improvement in gaze estimation method based on planar approximations of voltage ratios from electro-oculogram signals

Abstract(in English) The authors have developed a simple method for gaze estimation without being affected by the drift phenomenon that reduces the estimation accuracy based on planar approximations of the voltage ratios calculated from multiple electro-oculogram signals and previously reported that the proposed method can be used with an estimated error of approximately 4 degree, using at least nine electrodes arranged in an L shape. In this study we investigated the electrode arrangements for improvement of the estimation accuracy and reduction of the number of the electrodes. Numerical experiments using an eyeball battery model found the arrangements with an estimated error of approximately 2.2 and 1.8 degree at six and seven electrodes, respectively.
