Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Recently, the population of runners have been increasing due to rising health concerns. Accordingly, injuries of beginning runners have also increased. To prevent such injuries, running shoes have two different functions such as shock absorption and foot stabilization particularly in the sole. Because these two functions are somewhat contradictory to each other, we have to obtain optimum designs of the sole structure under practical conditions. Then we studied effects of a gel material incorporated into the sole on the shoes functions in running. Experiments of running on a treadmill demonstrated that a hardness of the gel affects its deformation pattern, i.e. shock absorbing mechanism, while it has a little effect on foot stabilization under the conditions of the present experiments. |
