Proactive Hand-over based on Driving Direction Service

Abstract(in English) We anticipate massive deployment of small cells to meet the high-demand of wireless resources in few years. With such mobile network infrastructure in forthcoming future, we will observe very frequent hand-overs during communications. As a result, those hand-overs degrade application layer performance. A service centric hand-over is proposed to tackle with this issue. In our approach, there is a linkage between application service information and network-based information. We utilize it to determine when and where to make a hand-over. We apply our proposal to a cloud-based Driving Direction Navigation Service. We show how we can integrate information from the service into the C-plane control of a mobile network. We show the effectiveness of our proposed approach for the case of single user equipment using simulation.
