Abstract(in English) The wireless LAN(WLAN) based on IEEE802.11 uses multiple transmission rates(multi-rate) in order to obtain better communication quality according to the communication environment. However, because the dynamic change of transmission rate depends on the variation of communication environment, it is difficult to implement the transmission rate model in the typical simulators. Therefore, the existing transmission rate model for the multi-rate environment cannot simulate the real environment sufficiently. Therefore, first, this study evaluates the characteristics of transmission rate over the multi-rate environment by using real machines. Then, we investigates the utilization ratio and transition ratio of transmission rate when the distance between a sender and receiver changes. Next, this study proposes some transmission rate models for multi-rate environment based on the experimental results. In this study, we show three transmission rate models which are based on the utilization ratio of transmission rate, transition ratio of transmission rate, and the transmission rate by using an advection-diffusion equation. By the simulation results, we confirmed the proposed transmission rate models can replicate the performance obtained by the actual environment.
