Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, the non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is gaining more attention as a candidate multiple access scheme for future radio access. A major reason for this is that NOMA has a potential to achieve better tradeoff between the system efficiency and user fairness compared to the orthogonal multiple access (OMA), which is adopted in 4th generation mobile communication systems such as LTE and LTE-Advanced. This is an advantageous property to efficiently accommodate highly dispersed requirements on quality of service (QoS) per user and quality of user experience (QoE) under largely different channel conditions among users due to near-far effect etc. in cellular systems. In the paper, we focus on the downlink cellular systems. This paper gives an overview on the principle of NOMA and recent investigations. In 3GPP, the study of NOMA (called downlink Multi-User Superposition Transmission (MUST) in the discussion) is ongoing as a potential technology component for further enhancement of LTE-Advanced. Therefore, several issues for implementing NOMA in real systems are also presented.
