Evaluation of communication in remote collaboration using a multi-view stereoscopic image.

Abstract(in English) We designed a remote collaborative task using a real-time multi-view stereoscopic image, and we evaluated it quantitatively and qualitatively. The task is an instructor (experimental participant) instructs a remote worker (experimental collaborator) to assemble building blocks. In the experiment, we compared the case of using a multi-view stereoscopic image and the case of using a single-view plane image for the remote collaborative work that the worker in a remote place. As the results of the experiment, there was not the significant difference in the task completion time, but the mental workload of the instructor was reduced under the condition of multi-view stereoscopic image. Additionally, on the instructor's utterance, it was confirmed that the utterance number of the instruction to assemble the block was reduced and the utterance number of the response for the work of the worker is increased under the condition of multi-view stereoscopic image.
