Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This research was aimed at verifying whether video-mediated co-eating experiences between elderly parents and their independent children can improve the parents’ Quality of Life (QOL) in terms of their safety and happiness. We conducted video-mediated co-eating communication experiments for two pairs of parents and their children for a period of 2 months in 2015. During this study, the participants were requested to record their daily activities and state of their mental health, and to respond to interviews 3 times. The questionnaires revealed a relationship between the daily events and subsequent mental states, and changes in the attitude towards communication among families. Finally, this case study reported that the periodical video-mediated co-eating of elderly parents with their children fostered the elderly parents’ marital communication.
