| Abstract(in English) | Recent family life style change has increased the number of elderly people living isolated from their independent daughter/son families. For solving the problem, we propose and develop a communication support system called "TomoLivi" that connects elderly and younger families taking advantage of Information Communication Technology. The system provides co-existing atmosphere by sharing existing/non-existing and activity information of persons in the rooms and mediates their conversation using videophone function. We was introduced the system into one pair of families and conducted two week long experiments. The results show that existing information affords conversations not only between the parents and daughter but also parents and their grandchildren. |
