Study on Characteristics of a Single-Mode Resonator for Microwave Heating

Abstract(in English) Using single-mode resonators we can irradiate heating samples with electric or magnetic field separately. However the Q factor, which is index of the single-mode resonators, is dependent on permittivity which is changed by sample temperature. Furthermore the Q factor is dependent on an iris width. We used pure water for a sample and investigated these unclear relations of the Q factor to an iris width and sample temperature. For a comparison, two types of resonators with different lengths were designed by theoretical formula and electric field distribution in the resonator with simulations. As a result, the relation between the Q factor and the sample temperature was changed depending on a resonator length and the relation between the Q factor and the iris width had a negative correlation.
