A Study of Holding Access-Point Assignment Algorithm for Wireless Local-Area Networks

Abstract(in English) Recently, higher-performance emph{access-points (APs)} have been available in short time due to rapid developments of the device technology, the radio communication technology, the software technology, and others. As a result, many organizations have held various APs such that communication performances and functions are different. At the same time, laptop personal computers and mobile terminals have also been diverse in terms of the communication protocol and the number of antennas. Therefore, the optimal assignment of holding AP devices to the field depending on the host distribution becomes very important to improve the network performance. In this paper, we formulate this emph{holding access-point assignment problem} as a combinatorial optimization problem, and propose its heuristic algorithm based on the simulated annealing. We show the effectiveness of our proposal through simulations for simple instances.
