Abstract(in English) | In this talk, I first introduce statistical-mechanical informatics. In my opinion, statistical-mechanical informatics has started from an important indication by Hopfield, that is, he pointed out the mathematical similarity between associative memory models and random spin systems. Statistical-mechanical informatics can treat not only neural network models such as associative memory models and perceptrons, but also various kinds of information processing systems, for example, error correcting code, machine learning, image restoration, CDMA and so on. One of fruitful application fields of statistical-mechanical informatics is sparse modeling. We consider sparse modeling as a key technology of data-driven science. I mention the basic concept of sparse modeling, and concretely explain that sparse modeling promotes extraction of latent structure in various kinds of observed data. We have become convinced that the three levels pointed out by David Marr give a novel insight into data-driven science, and proposed three levels of data-driven science. Finally, I would like to mention future direction of brain-like artificial intelligence based on the three levels of data-driven science. |
