Visualization Technique to Colorize and Categorize Occurrence Frequency of Key Words in Newspapers with Temporal Scalability

Abstract(in English) We propose a technique to visualize occurrence frequency of specified categories or key words in archived database of newspaper. We first count the number of articles that belong to the specified categories or contain specified key words. Then time-dependent counts or occurrence frequency are drawn in time-dependent palettes. The visualization of color palette is in multi-scale, and a web application named SOMATO provides a time-scalable preview of the palettes. It provides us with environment for easy comprehension of trend of events or phenomena in societies.
