Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) To accommodate ever-increasing Internet traffic, the number of wavelength-selective switches (WSSs) must be increased in an optical cross-connect (OXC). Moreover, we need to achieve a highly resilient large-scale OXC. In this paper, we propose a failure resilient OXC architecture which suits the subsystem-modular OXC architecture. By using additional WSSs, the proposed architecture can substantially reduce the failure rate of optical cross-connect cost-effectively. Through network simulations, we confirm that the proposed scheme can substantially improve the failure rate with only a small number of redundant WSSs.
