Vowel Classification for Generating Language Family Trees Based on the Acoustic Phonetics

Abstract(in English) In the study to esitimate language classification based on pronunciation changes in basic vocabularies, the data representing the pronunciations of basic vocabularies is necessary. In a currentlry available data, phonetic symbols are classified based on articulatory phonetics. In this paper, we propose another method for the classification of phonetic symbols based on acoustic phonetics, in which phonetic symbols are classified according to the clastering of frequency spectrums of the sounds of phonetic symbols. Comprison of these two methods are also demostrated.
