Vehicle-to-vehicle communications for crossing intersections considering safe distance

Abstract(in English) CSMA/CA is used for vehicle-to-vehicle communications. However, when the number of communicating vehicle increases, communication delay increases and message reception rate decreases. This article proposes the message transmission control method for vehicles which are in the communication area (distance to the intersection is less than 100 meters), where the signal transmission interval is dependent on the distance with the surrounding vehicles. By simulations, it is clarified that the average message reception rates, the average communication delay and the risk of traffic accidents are improved in the proposed method, compared it with the conventional methods.
