Influences of Make Arc on Various Characteristics and Electrode Mass Change for Electromagnetic Contactor

Abstract(in English) Experiments were carried out to clarify the influence of closed contact current on various characteristics, such as arc duration, contact resistance, arc energy and electrode mass change. The source voltages is DC-100V, closed contact current are changed from 10, 20, 30A, and an electromagnetic contactor is operated continuously up to 100,000 times at the condition of only mark arc. As a result, the contact resistance becomes small at large closed contact current. The arc duration and the bounce time become small when closed contact current large. The anode contact mass decreases and the cathode side has increased, the direction of mass change is opposite to the break arc. In addition, the electrode mass change per unit arc energy of fixed anode and cathode electrode is almost constant for 10, 20 and 30A.
