Adaptive Filtering for Frequency Fluctuating Periodic Interference

Abstract(in English) Periodic interference frequently disturbs the measurement of small signals and causes problems. Adaptive filters are potential methods to cancel such interference. However, when the interference has a fluctuating frequency, the ideal FIR adaptive filter coefficients to cancel the interference also fluctuate. When the algorithm's adaptation property is slow in comparison with the frequency fluctuation, the interference cancelling performance degrades. On the other hand, if the adaptation is made too quick, the influence of target signal itself makes performance lower. To overcome this problem we propose an adaptive filter that suppresses fluctuation of ideal coefficients by utilizing $frac{pi}{2}$ phase delay device. This method assumes the frequency response that characterizes the route from the interference source to main input signal to be sufficiently smooth. In numerical examples the proposed method shows good performance in the presence of frequency fluctuation by setting forgetting factor large. Moreover, we show that proposed method has another virtue in calculation cost.
