Scheduling beacon transmissions in receiver initiated MAC protocols for low-delay wireless sensor networks

Abstract(in English) Receiver-initiated MAC protocols are effective protocols to establish energy-efficient wireless sensor networks. In order to im-prove the efficiency of their frame transmissions, this paper proposes scheduling method of beacon transmission which can decrease collision probabilities. The proposed method also improves data collection delay by scheduling beacon transmission in descending order of nodes’ depth on their collection trees. In addition, utilizing the characteristic of receiver-initiated MAC protocols that allows leaf nodes sending no beacon, only relay nodes schedule their beacon transmissions. This achieves suit-able schedules of beacon transmission even when sensor nodes are densely deployed.
