[Encouragement Talk] Robustness Evaluation of Distribute SDN Control Plane against Large-scale Failure

Abstract(in English) Software Defined Networking (SDN) technology enables us to configure switches in a network flexibly. Previously, distributed SDN control methods have been concerned to improve their scalability and robustness. Distributed placement of controllers reduces computation load of each controller, and backup (cooperation) functions among controllers enhance robustness. However, these techniques do not include any emergency measure against large-scale failures such as network separation induced by disasters. Recently, we considered emergency reconfiguration of control plane (C-plane) over distributed SDN environments. In this paper, we discuss evaluation methods from the view points of failure model and network topology to measure robustness of connectivity between controllers and network equipment against large-scale failure.
