Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Rapid growing Video-On-Demand (VOD) services to incur user experiences become a primary source of high traffic load of the network fabric. Several mechanisms to install cache servers in the intermediate network have been introduced to reduce traffic by eliminating repetitive delivery of popular contents data. Conventional cache methodology is always required to improve the cache efficiency to follow the requests that frequently switch places according to a trend of users' interest and an introduction of new videos and suggestions. This report proposes a heterogeneous cache strategies to reduce video streaming traffic. The hybrid strategy adopts the combination of LFU that improves cache hit ratio and LRU that follows fluctuation of the popularity of the contents. Our simulation results on layered cache network show that the hybrid cache strategy reduces traffic by maintaining high hit ratio even varying contents popularity.
