Route Selection Algorithm for WSN Nodes Considering Power Consumption

Abstract(in English) Wireless sensor network (WSN) technology provides wireless multi-hop communication and easy deployment everywhere; thus, extending the lifetime of WSN is highly desirable. In this study, we propose the route selection algorithm which focuses on the remaining energy and predicted energy consumption on WSN nodes since the most of power consumption is attributable to wireless communication. By changing the route periodically using this algorithm, the WSN system lasts 1.14 times longer as compared to that when the routes are fixed. Original WSN simulator was built to evaluate the algorithm with experimental measured parameters; the distance-packet error rate, current consumption, and discharge characteristic of a battery.
