Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Concurrent transmission (CT), i.e., transmitting duplicated signals simultaneously through multiple transmitters/antennas, is commonly believed to be harmful to the receiver performance. However, the recent success of the CT flooding in the IEEE 802.15.4 network indicates that people are too pessimistic about CT. In this work, we conduct simulations and experiments to evaluate the 802.15.4 receiver performance under CT. We verify that the IEEE 802.15.4 receivers are able to survive the CT under to the following condition 1) larger enough power offset to allow capture effect or 2) tight timing synchronization with fast or very slow beating. On the other hand, we confirm that CT results in almost no SNR improvement, and attribute the improvement in CT to the diversity gain by evaluating the coverage and outage probability enhancement in the fading scenario.
