Abstract(in English) | This paper proposes an adaptive weighted least-squares method for controlling the directivity of a loudspeaker array. If we use the conventional least-squares method to design the filter of a loudspeaker array, high level sidelobes appear in the directivity pattern. In our previous study, we demonstrated that sidelobes can be suppressed using the weighted least-squares method. However, the weight coefficients were decided heuristically. In this study, to decide the optimum weight coefficients automatically, we investigate the adaptive algorithm of the least-squares method. First, we set an ideal directivity pattern by using the window function, and obtain the filter coefficients of the target loudspeaker array based on the least-squares method with an initial weighting factor. Next, we update the weighting factor by using the error between the ideal directional and radiation patterns, which are calculated by convoluting the filter coefficients and the transfer functions. Then, we repeat this process until the error level is satisfied by the end condition of the update. To confirm the performance of our proposed algorithm, we compared the proposed method with conventional least-squares-method. These results showed that the proposed method suppressed the sidelobes more efficiently than the conventional least-squares method; however, the main beam width in the case of the former was greater than that of the latter. |
