Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Bluetooth MANETs are a communication method for networks within a small area and with a tightenergy budget, for instance based on smartphones. In previous work, the performance of MANETs has been dis-cussed for a range of different network densities. For extremely high device densities in very crowded networks, though, WiFi-based MANETs suffer from performance degradation due to relatively high communication rangesand therefore a high rate of collisions. Moreover, in a realistic MANET scenario, one must take effects into accountwhich are not solely determined by the density. In order to assess and discuss the abovementioned issues, we imple-mented a simulation model for Bluetooth MANETs in the network simulator QualNet, and measured the achievedperformance. We found that under the considered conditions the performance of Bluetooth MANETs is superior toWiFi-based MANETs.
