Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Screen reader allows the visually impaired to read the text on the PC screen with synthesized speech and it takes a long time to read aloud. For this reason, many visually impaired users set the reading speed at rather high rate. However, the speech becomes more difficult to hear as the speed becomes faster, therefore easily heard voice has been desired. When the waveform is trimmed to make a faster voice, the consonant with short duration might be deleted. In this study, we proposed a speech rate conversion method to maintain the consonant part of plosive and liquid which have a short duration and trim the subsequent vowel part. As a result of listening experiments for hearing people, the effectiveness of the proposed method was shown.
