Impulse Response Measurement in Non-Line-of-Sight Urban Environment for VHF-band Broadband Mobile Communication System

Abstract(in English) With the end of analog TV broadcasting in Japan, it is expected that the Public broadband mobile communication system (PBB) will utilize a portion of the vacant spectrum in VHF band. There are very few reports on short range propagation characteristics in non-line-of-sight environments in the VHF band. In order to investigate the usability of system, it is essential to specify the delay characteristics of mobile communication, assuming the usage in various environments. In this report, a measurement method for impulse response is proposed by using a PBB device compliant with ARIB STD-T103. The measurement method is vverified through field experiments in a non-line-of-sight urban environment, which is expected to be one of the environments where the PBB system will be utilized. In addition, statistical characteristics of the measured impulse responses are analyzed in this report.
