Surrounding Vehicle Detection Using Road Boundary Detection Based on Hyperbolic Road Model

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose a detection method of surrounding vehicle based on road boundaries found by hyperbolic road model from moving images captured by in-vehicle cameras. By the road model, we can divide the road image into three areas, such as a driving lane, an opposite land and others. The division of the road area can be narrowed down the search area for finding vehicle. Therefore the proposed method is efficient in view of the processing time and the misdetection rate. In the vehicle detection, an intensity of the road is also considered. Experimental results show that good detection performance is obtained for a variety of road environments.
