Wireless Medium Access Control with Successive Interference Cancellation

Abstract(in English) Successive interference cancellation (SIC) is a wireless physical layer technique, which can realize multiple packet receptions from multiple nodes by means of iterative interference cancellations. SIC is a well-known physical layer technique, however, we do not have enough findings about how the SIC technique affects the performance of upper layer protocols such as medium access control (MAC) and network layers. In this paper, we derive the performance of the SIC technique in wireless single-hop networks. In addition, we conduct some numerical calculations based on the derived equations to investigate the effectiveness and applicability of the SIC technique.
