Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Nods have grammatically importance in Japanese sign language, but there is little mention about arise timing of nods in literatures. In this research, we analyzed temporal relationship between hand motion and nods in Japanese sign language. As a result, three types of nods timing were observed: one synchronize with hand motion, another arise after hand motion, and the third have low relationship with hand motion. Based on this result, we suggested possibility of deciding appropriate nods timing to sign language animation.
