A Study of TCP Retransmission Offload for Wireless Communications

Abstract(in English) In high-speed communication environment, overhead of TCP becomes bottle-neck. The offload techniques, which deputize TCP operations in hardware or software, are efficient to reduce the overhead. The IEEE802.11ac standard specifies that the maximum transmission rate is 6.9Gbps. Thus, the offload technique will be useful under wireless environments. On the other hand, many researches to overcome the nature of wireless environments , namely frequent packet losses, have been proposed Therefore, the offload technique must be take into account the high packet loss ratio of wireless communications. In this paper, we propose the TCP retransmission offload that deputize TCP retransmission for packet losses. In addition, we describe the efficiency of the proposed method via simulation evaluations.
