Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, Wireless LAN (WLAN) is widespread due to its low cost and simplicity installation and indeed is equipped with smart phone and tablet PC as default setting. Therefore, numerous number of WLAN access point (AP) are densely deployed at not only office and houses but also public spaces such as station and hall for providing the WLAN services to numerous number of WLAN stations (STA) (i.e., ultra dense WLAN environment). In this ultra dense WLAN environment, the communication performance is drastically decreased due to both the increase in transmission waiting time and frame collision caused by channel overlapping and hidden terminal problem, respectively. However, since STA commonly connects an AP with the highest received signal strength indicator (RSSI) from among beacons received from all neighboring APs, the communication performance cannot be guaranteed. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new AP selection scheme in which each STA autonomously estimates the negative impact of these problems and calculates an available communication performance after connection establishment to each AP. Through simulation experiment, we show that our proposed scheme can balance traffic load over multiple channels and thereby improve the total throughput of all STAs.
