Design and Performance of an Extended Overlap FFT Filter-Bank for Flexible Spectrum Access

Abstract(in English) In the cognitive radio using the non-contiguous unused spectrum with different bandwidth, we need a multi-rate transmission scheme which is capable of transmitting and receiving multiple radio signals with an arbitrary bandwidth over multiple radio channels. As neighboring radio channels of the unused spectrum are used by primary users, it is required to reduce adjacent channel interference to adjacent primary users. This report proposes an extended overlap FFT filter-bank to reduce adjacent channel interference by extending the overlap part for FFT/IFFT processing from 1/4 block to 3/8 block, where FFT/IFFT block length does not need to be extended to reduce adjacent channel interference, thus processing delay is remained. Furthermore, this report describes design and performance of the proposed extended overlap FFT filter-bank and shows simulation results to confirm the improvement of adjacent channel interference.
