Experimental evaluation of ARIB STD-T103 VHF broadband mobile communication systems

Abstract(in English) VHF broadband mobile communication systems have been investigated for wider coverage area than conventional cellular phone network area. The authors have proposed receiving schemes for transmitter based on ARIB STD-T103 and evaluated their BER performance by computer simulation . This standard has two PHY modes, i.e. Mode 1 and Mode 2. The difference between Mode 1 and WirelessMAN-OFDMA in 802.16-2009 is only parameters to operate in VHF band. Pilot patterns of Mode 2 is optimized for VHF band communication systems. There are some studies about experimental evaluation for Mode 1 but no studies for with high number of modulation levels such as 16QAM and 64QAM. This paper reports the results of experimental evaluation of receivers proposed for ARIB STD T-103 Mode 2 systems.
