A broadcast protocol for IEEE 802.15.4e RIT based Wireless smart utility networks

Abstract(in English) Feathery receiver initiated transmission (F-RIT) media access control (MAC) protocol based on IEEE 802.15.4/4e has been proposed as an implementable and low power consumption MAC protocol for low power consumption wireless smart utility network (Wi-SUN) systems. Since the RIT device initiates its receiving timing from the receiver to the sender, the sender shall control the timing to operate broadcasting. To configure versatile networks, broadcasting utilized in neighbor discovery and so on, should be supported. Firstly in this report, theoretical and simulated evaluation results of communication link establishment success rate and communication link establishment frequency on star topology F-RIT systems are presented. Then a RIT based broadcast protocol is proposed. The proposed protocol achieves broadcasting by sending frame that contains periodic listening timing. The computer simulated evaluation results on neighbor discovery show validity of the proposed method.
