Design and Function Evaluation of a Prototype Sensor for Wireless LAN Frame Collision Detection and Collision Classification

Abstract(in English) With the increase of wireless local area networks (WLAN) using the IEEE 802.11 protocol, the interference among WLAN devices has become a significant problem. In IEEE802.11 WLAN, which uses CSMA/CA for collision avoidance, frame collision events and their causes cannot be identified, and therefore, it is difficult to take appropriate countermeasures to suppress frame collisions. In previous work we proposed methods for a transmitter to detect frame collision and classify collisions corresponding to their probable cause. In this paper, we report the structure and operation of a prototype sensor equipped with the proposed methods. Also, the functional evaluation of the prototype senor is reported.
