WLAN Positioning System Using Power-absorption-based Model at Dual-frequency Bands

Abstract(in English) To realize a navigation service in a large-scale shopping mall, a WLAN positioning system using a smartphone built-in a WLAN module is proposed. Specifically, to reduce the positioning error attributed to a multipath fading and a power absorption by a user, a method for positioning utilizes a power-absorption based model at dual-frequency bands. According to the evaluation in a conference room, a root mean square error (RMSE) of the proposed method is 2.11 m in the case of sparse access point (AP) deployment (the distance between two APs is 9 m). RMSE of the proposed method is 27 % lower than that of the conventional one using the model at a single frequency band.
