Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Introduction of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) space-time block coded (STBC) diversity to small-cell network using distributed antennas, in which a number of antennas are spatially deployed over each macro-cell, can mitigate the negative impacts of propagation path loss, shadowing loss and frequency-selective fading and achieve a good transmission quality over entire macro-cell. Furthermore, the introduction of macro-cell cooperation, in which distributed antennas (DAs) in adjacent macro-cells are also used as the diversity branches, can improve the downlink capacity. However, in downlink transmission, the use of DAs in adjacent macro-cells increases the giving interference to adjacent cells and therefore, the performance improvement by introducing the macro-cell cooperation is limited. In this paper, we propose DA selections based on Max-sum criterion and Max-min criterion for distributed antenna OFDM-STBC diversity with macro-cell cooperation. The proposed DA selection based on Max-sum criterion selects DAs so as to maximize downlink sum capacity while that based on Max-min criterion selects DAs so as to maximize minimum downlink capacity with taking into account the giving interference to adjacent macro-cells. Furthermore, in the proposed schemes, the optimal selected DA groups are obtained sequentially by including/removing the DA which maximizes the variation of downlink capacity to selected DA group based on a recurrence formula of downlink capacity. We evaluate, by computer simulation, the downlink capacity in the distributed antenna OFDM-STBC diversity with the proposed adaptive DA selection and show that the proposed scheme can achieves about 1.2 times higher 5% outage downlink sum capacity than when using DA selection which does not consider the giving interference to adjacent macro-cells.
