Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The number of necessary channel estimation sequences (CES) slots linearly increase as the number of transmission antennas when the conventional CES allocation methods are used. This causes significant overhead when the number of antennas increases and the data rate enhancement by applying MIMO technology is limited. To address the problem this paper presents a new overhead reducing CES design for millimeter-wave short-range MIMO wireless communication systems. In the proposed design, an identical CES is allocated to multiple antennas with cyclic shifts. By setting the amount of the cyclic shift larger than the maximum length of the channel impulse response, MIMO channel estimation can be done without aliasing among different channels. Furthermore, a simple novel time-domain approach of channel estimation using the characteristics of the circulant matrix enables low-burden channel estimation. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated by using experimentally obtained short-range MIMO channel environment.
