Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, Proximity-based Services have been attracted attention as information-communication networking without using any base-station equipment. Some practical applications, such as iBeacon, Wi-Fi Aware, and Wi-SUN are proposed. Their transmission ranges vary among applications. If the transmission range becomes longer, information can be transferred more widely, but it cosumes more battery power. Therefore, we must estimate a proper transmission range to optimize the network. When we consider networking by Epidemic Routing in these applications, it is valueable to estimate a proper transmission range enough to forward a message to most mobile nodes in urban area. In this study, I investigate the proper transmission range in some Japanese urban areas using SNS-based people flow data through visualizing the patterns. Since wireless communication patterns between devices moving with human and vehicle can change temporally, the final size of information forwarded nodes has a percolation-type transition. I estimate the critical transmission range using logistic regression analysis. As a result, I find that the critical ranges are around 900[m] in Tokyo metropolitan area, 1.8[km] in Chukyo area, and 1.4[km] in Kansai area. Comparing the populations in urban areas and the number of user IDs in the people flow data, the critical range is valid in the case that one per thousand or 10 thousands of people join the network.
