Multi-interface D2D Relaying for increasing WLAN throughput performance

Abstract(in English) Recently,many Wireless LAN access points (APs) are widely deployed in public spaces such as station and park and Wireless LAN interface is commonly installed in handheld station (STA) such as smart phone.Therefore,ultra dense WLAN environment will be likely to appear in the near future.Although CSMA/CA as MAC protocol for WLAN provides the access right equally among all belonging STAs, their data rates are different each other in response to the radio condition (e.g., frame collision and transmission distance).In particular,coexistence of different data rates under the same AP will inevitably occur in the ultra dense WLAN environment and thereby we suffer drastic decrease in the throughput performance due to the performance anomaly problem.In this paper,we propose a Device-to-Device Relaying scheme to solve the performance anomaly problem.In the scheme,an intermediate STA which has multiple WLAN interfaces relays data packets between the AP and the destination STA.Through simulation experiment,we show that the proposed D2D Relaying can improve WLAN throughput performance remarkably.
