Abstract(in English) Rapid increase in mobile traffic due to the spread of smartphones will cause the frequency shortage. Frequency range from 400MHz to 6GHz has been allocated to various wireless systems in Japan. Therefore, white space technology is expected and many studies have been reported. This talk presents our work on developing a broadband spectrum sensing platform for a white space system that covers a frequency range from 400MHz to 6GHz. In our platform, we elaborated and implemented a cooperative sensing method, which exploits cross-correlations of received signals among distributed sensors to estimate the received signal strength. By the method, spectrum sensing performance in a multipath environment is also enhanced by using a good reference signal that is located near a target system. We developed a prototype of our platform and successfully verified its performance. Our platform enables to detect signals under noise floor (e.g. -114dBm/6MHz by FCC rules), to detect transmitters, and to recognize their border of radio coverage.
